Palmanova

Mallorca is one of our most favorite summer vacation locations. As we visited many times the wonderful CanPastilla we believed it is time to try another location, the very famous Palma Nova, or by it's name New Palma.

Our plane landed on the Palma airport in the evening and a bus was already waiting for us to take us to our location. We arrived late in the night at the Hotel Dolphin so it was no time to better view the surroundings . However we had a nice surprise as the hotel's restaurant was opened for our small group to have a late night snack before going to bed. Then we were shown to our room and we again we were pleasantly surprised to have a family room with two huge beds, a large bathroom and a beautiful balcony with low hanging branches of red flower, a dryer for wet clothes and a table with chairs.

On the next morning on the way to breakfast we admired the hotel, a large beautiful white hotel with wooden balconies. The blue pool was surrounded by palm trees and flowers and plants, it almost looked like a lake in the middle of a tropical forest. Near it there was a small pool for little children and a playground with a lot of toys. We went to breakfast in the large restaurant, the offer was pretty good for both meat lover and vegetable lovers: eggs, ham, cheese, yogurt, breads of all kind, milk and coffees and juices. 

After breakfast we took all our beach things and run out. We discovered that from our room there is a direct way via a gate which led us to the promenade full of shops and people. After crossing the street we found ourselves on the Palmanova beach. It is probably the largest beach i have ever seen, starting with beautiful palm trees and continuing with soft golden sand sparkling in the hot Spanish sun. 

We ran on the large beach feeling the warm sand on our feet and set ourselves near the water. The sea stretch as long as you could see, a dark blue color with sparks of gold from the sun. At the shore as you enter the water there are maybe 10 meters of perfectly clear and green water, then as you continue to swim you suddenly find yourself in dark blue. The change is so sudden you can see the line where the color switches. There is a warm pleasant breeze which keeps the air cool and the waves a small and pleasant, the entrance to the sea is suitable for small children who doesn't know to swim all. It is a family beach, with perfect warm water and soft sand and a lot of bars and restaurants along the way. 

One thing that i likes very much on the Palmanova beach was that there were special chairs for disabled people so they will also enjoys a dip in the water without the help of their relatives. 

 

We spend many days on the beach, we swam in the pleasant sea. Our child enjoyed the water, played with water guns and build castles on the shore. When we got hungry we walked along the promenade and checked all the restaurants, we had chocolate pancakes, fries or fruits which we took to the beach and eat them together on the sand. In the evening we had dinners at the hotel, again with a very wide variety of meat, fish, fries and rice, steamed vegetables, fruits and sweet. After the dinner the children played on the playground and we had some program of entertainment.

In the evenings and during a day of rain we walked along the whole town, along the cobblestones streets and we admired all the restaurants and bars and fast-foods, the shops with clothes and souvenirs. There were colored jewels and toys, books and coloring books, dolls and hats, traditional foods and products, bikinis' and beach balls and towels and toys.

As the days went by we spend most of the time on the beach, but we also made short trips to Palma, as the buses were very helpful and the station stopped in front of the hotel. Evenings brought people together in pobs and cafeterias and restaurants where they enjoyed meals and drinks and watched football games on the large screens.

Palmanova is loud location, for people who like to have fun, modern and full of shops and places to see and play , and dance. It is not a place for people who want quiet and a lonely beach. It is an excellent location for families with little children, who constantly need fresh fruits, drinks and toys.
