Best places to eat in Bratislava and Slovakia

Bratislavsky Mestiansky Pivovar, one of the olderst restaurants, it was build in 1752 by townspeople Romisch and Hildebrant, as a brewery and then became also slovak restaurant. Now beer is made and served the beautiful old restaurant and delicious traditional slovak food that goes very well with the beer. We usually go for special occasions like birthday and when we want to spend a romantic Valentine or special day in two. Below you can see home made patee, chiken soup, goulash soup, pork belly with cabbage and dumplings, pork belly stew and duck with cabbage and dumplings.

Sankt Vitus Kaffe is special as it is the only caffe made in an old church and located near the beautiful Rusovce castle and the peaceful park around it. I remember it totally abandonned,  broken and surrounded by weeds and garbage. The chapel was cleaned and repairedb and transformed into a beautiful coffe shop. The garden was cleaned and tables where set onto a beautiful green plain, swings were added for little children. It is pleasant to see inside in the warm in winter and outside in the fresh air in summer. Some of the treats bellow:

Slovenska Krcma is one of my favourites, the first time i saw it, it looks so rustic and slovak traditional. There is a picture with a sheperd on the facade of the building, a reference to their signature dish and the slovak simbol: bryndzove halusky (dumplings with sheep cheese). Inside you find wooden tables covered by colored table cloth. The place make you feel somewhere far in some country side little kitchen where you expect a grandmother to come with home made food. On the walls there are picture of the most famous people in slovak history. Here we went many times, in the pistures below you can see garlic soup in bread, filled chiken snitzels and deep fried collieflower with home made tartar sauce.

Karolinka cafe is a vry pretty small coffe shop which i love as it is newly build very close the the place i live. There is a playground in front of it and a football and tennis court. Mothers with children can come and taste something good while their children are playing. The cafe is offering not only cakes and fresh wonderful limoneds, but also healthy snack like omeletes and healthy breakfast, sandwices and wrapps. Also they were offering juicy burgers and duck sandwiches.

Luculus Ice Saloon is probably the best icecream in Bratislava, durring the summer time there is a huge queue in front of the shop, there are also coffes and cakes offered but the star of the shop is the icecream. The ice parlor has also one of best locations in the center or Bratislava where all the tourists are going and the locals are having walks with their families, all the events and meeting are happening, on the beautiful Hviezdoslavovo square.  They have the most delicious icecream, a lot of flavours, also without milk and without glutten. they also have the sorbets from fresh fruits.

Kafee Mayer is one of the famous coffee shop in Bratislava, similar to the ones in Viena. The first Mayer kafee was made by Julius Mayer in 1873. The coffe shop is very elegant and stylish, full of painitng on the wall and pictures of old Bratislava. it is located in the heart of the Bratislava old center, in the Main Square and it has in front a famous statue the Schőner Naci. It severs delicious and elegant cakes, fresh limonades, coffes and even breakfast sandwiches.

Berg Penzion it is a small motel in the Petrzalka region of Bratislava. It has a restaurant which is pretty old and famous and we went there for our 10th wedding anniversary. The restaurant is small and elegant, we had a nice romantic dinner. Please see below cabbage soup, tomatoe soup, ribbs plate for my husband and s nice salmon dish for me, then desert, poppie seeds noodlles in the vanilla sauce and strawberry tart.

Lucette my favourite patisserie, i ate there one of the best macaroons, they also have delicious cheesecakes, made with high quality cheese and butter and fresh fruit, they also have cakes and tarts made only with the freshest fruits.

Antica Toscana  a nice Italian restaurant in the beautiful Rusovce, it has a wonderful location near and with the view to the Rusovce Church St. Mary-Magdalene, also near the Rusovce castle and the ruins of the ancient roman fort Gerulata. We went there on my birthday and everything we tasted was excellent. We found a romantic atmosphere and roses on the table. Below you can see the bruschetta, pumpkin soup, chiken picatta and chocolate pannna cotta.

iCukraren is the place where we ordered all the birthday cakes and all other occasions, for our wedding aniversary and other ocasions.

The following restaurants are not from Bratislava but the food was incredible and i can't let them out:

Hotel Kaskady near Zvolen we went there when a beautiful winter day full of snow, we swam in the pools and had a romantic dinner. below you can see salmon apperitives, pumpkin cream soup, porc filled with dry plums with baked potatoes and delicious cakes for desert. Also from the bar of the hotel latte machiatto, limonade and pina colada.

Aquacity Poprad restaurant it is not a fancy restaurant but for the aqupark they are making delicious food. Please see sweedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and gyros.

Penzion Zora Family in Tatranska Lominca, we stopped there only one time however the food was so good i was not able to forget it.
